DMARC is the rule a domain owner publishes telling mail servers what to do with email that pretends to come from them. The stronger it is, the more likely scammers switch to lookalike domains, which is why the next section matters.

Can receive email

We check misspellings, look-alike characters, and the Lidl name combined with words like “order”, “orders”, “rewards” across common domain endings. A registered lookalike is not proof of a scam: companies often register typos of their own name to protect customers. But you should never trust a message from one.

Know the pattern

Scams using the Lidl name

Fake supplier inquiries using Lidl's real head-office address, asking businesses for a price list or minimum order quantity, are a known B2B scam. Orbiplot received one itself through its contact form.

Social media posts promising free Lidl vouchers or hampers in exchange for a survey are a recurring scam.

Retail scams borrow the trust you already have in big stores: fake orders, fake prizes, and fake business inquiries.

An order you did not make

A message confirms an expensive order or subscription and gives a number to call to cancel. The refund agent then asks for remote access to your computer or your bank details.

A free voucher or prize

Social media posts or texts promise a gift card, hamper or prize for completing a short survey. The survey collects your personal details or card number.

A fake supplier or wholesale inquiry

Businesses receive inquiries that appear to come from a major retailer, asking for a price list or minimum order quantity. The goal is an upfront fee or a large fake order.

Step by step

How to check a message that claims to be from Lidl

  1. 1

Look at the actual sender address, not just the name. Tap or hover over the name to reveal it. It must end in @lidl.com or @lidl.de or @lidl.co.uk or @lidl.ch, or a subdomain of one.

  2. 2

Do not use links or phone numbers from the message. Type lidl.com into your browser or open the official Lidl app, and check your account there.

  3. 3

Slow down when you see urgency, small fees, gift cards, crypto, or requests for codes and passwords. Those are the levers every scam pulls.

  4. 4

Still unsure? Paste the sender address or link into the checker above.

Questions

Lidl scam FAQ

What email address does Lidl use?

Genuine Lidl email comes from addresses ending in @lidl.com, @lidl.de, @lidl.co.uk, @lidl.ch, or a subdomain of those (for example something@mail.lidl.com). An address on any other domain, even one containing "lidl", is not Lidl.

Can scammers fake an @lidl.com email address?

Weak. lidl.com monitors forged email but does not block it. A message can display an @lidl.com address and still be fake.

Are there websites pretending to be Lidl?

On 14 October 2026 we checked 170 lookalike domain names and found 29 registered. 0 appear to be owned by Lidl or a brand-protection service, 5 are parked or for sale, and 23 could not be linked to Lidl while hosting a website or accepting email. A registered lookalike is not proof of a scam, but any message from one deserves suspicion.

What should I do if I clicked a link in a fake Lidl message?

Do not enter anything else. If you typed a password, change it at lidl.com straight away and turn on two-step sign-in. If you entered card or bank details, call your bank using the number on your card. Then report the message using the guide below.
